Pro 5.1 Beta - small thought about the Slider and handling scale when you have empty slides

Hey,

The slider is awesome… !! thankyou for building such an excellent addition.

I did get frustrated for a while earlier, as I could not get the slide to fit the dimensions of the image I’d placed in, no matter what settings I changed, padding, flexbox, etc etc… it just would not shrink down and constrain to the height of the image.

It turns out it’s because I’d deleted the default text from one of the other slides and having an empty slide makes all slides conform to some default height.

Perhaps this could be changed, so if a slide is completely empty, that one scales to some default height so the user can be prompted to drop something in… but does not affect the height of other slides which do have content in.

EDIT: Also noticed sometimes, if a slide is made empty… They all scale up… if you then drop in a text element into that empty slide. It won’t always scale back down until you save and refresh the page.

Thanks

Hi @draper3000,

Thanks for reaching out about this. I’ve been looking into it, and haven’t landed on a good way to solve this that doesn’t introduce unwanted complexities. The Slide Container is designed to always take on the height of the tallest slide, and the “drop zone” for elements has a forced height. We don’t have a clean way around this. We could change the height to something smaller just for Slides, but that wouldn’t fully solve the issue.

I totally understand where you’re coming from. We’ll keep it in mind in case another solution presents itself, but for now we’re just going to add some information to the docs to bring awareness.

Great, glad it was somehow helpful. Once you know how it works it’s obviously not an issue. Cheers

:+1: thanks again!
