Hi beta testers! We’re closing in on our April release and would love for you to try out the new features and share any feedback you have.
Status
- 4/2 - Beta 2 now available. Using the Template Manager and Design Cloud no longer require leaving the current builder. We still have some changes planned (not yet implemented) that would allow Design Cloud assets to be used directly in each respective builder without having to install it.
- 3/26 - Beta 1 now available. This iteration includes the “Mega Menu” functionality but does not include improvements to Design Cloud we’re still working on for this cycle.
Notable Changes
- New Dropdown, Modal, and Off Canvas elements that accept child elements
- Any of the old elements that used those offscreen areas have been deprecated meaning by default they will no longer appear in the Element Library This decision was made to simplify the element list for new users and avoid doubling up on purpose/functionality.
- These Deprecated elements will always continue to work and you can restore them to the element library in the WordPress dashboard. Simply go to Settings > Permissions > Elements (in the WordPress Dashboard) and re-enable “Show in Library” for the respective element.
- We have added new prefab elements to bring parity to deprecated elements. For example, if you drag in “Search Modal” it will look like the previous Search Modal but it is constructed from a Modal element and a Search element. This helps keep individual element more focused and also makes it easier to simply add things like text above or below the offscreen content.
- Content Area has also been deprecated along with the offscreen variants. As an alternative you can just use Text (it can take any content) or use a Div with Raw Content inside.
- We’re aware that deprecating Content Area Modal, Dropdown, and Off Canvas make it harder to access the “dynamic rendering” feature. We haven’t decided yet how to approach this yet.
Known Issues
- A Navigation Inline inside of a Dropdown, inside of a Left/Right bar uses the wrong values for flexbox positioning.
- Modals/off canvas should be closed when clicking the overlay
- Dropdowns shouldn’t close when you start dragging an element
- There are still a few unresolved issues from between launch cycles
