Pro 4.3: Still no way to assign a Layout to the Shop page and taxonomy types?

Hi!

So this was my topic from around a week ago, but wit a generic answer. Perhaps we could discuss it a bit more here.

I had a real struggle to go around this limitation and had to compromise on UX:

Basically I wanted to assign a Layout to the Main Shop index page, which is different from the product Taxonomy archives. I have realized that this was not possible.

Also, I needed a layout for entire taxonomies, not individual ones. For example a Layout for Product Categories in general.

More use-cases would be custom taxonomies from CPT-UI, that could receive their own layout, etc.

Thanks!

Hi @Misho,

I see what you mean. It looks like somehow “Product Taxonomy” was mistakenly not added. It’s an analog to “Post Taxonomy” allowing selection of all archives that match a taxonomy Category, Tag, etxc. without having to specify a term. This will be in the next beta.

Assigning to Shop will still match any shop route including product categories/tags so you could exclude them now doing this:

  • Is Shop AND
  • Product Taxonomy IS NOT Product Category AND
  • Product Taxonomy IS NOT Product Tag AND

Let me know how it goes after we get the next beta pushed out.

Hi @alexander

Sorry for late reply here, but I didn’t have Beta installed on the website I was having the issue on. I can confirm that it works beautifully now.

As always, thanks a lot!

Ok great! Thanks for letting me know. You’re most welcome.
