We just wrapped up a release cycle, but right on its heels is our next release including the Grid element. We have it to a place where you can start playing around with it and experimenting.
You can test the Grid Element by installing the 3.1.0 beta version of Pro. For more information on our beta process, please read this article.
While this announcement thread is locked, there is a high level conversation about the Grid element here: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/grid-element-discussion/61639
Feel free to chime in on that topic, or to open your own threads to discuss specific issues and feedback.
Status
- 11/15 - Release candidate 1 now available. Includes updates to Design Cloud, including the addition of Design Cloud to X.
- 11/4 - Beta 3 now available. Includes custom attribute control.
- 10/8 - Beta 2 now available
- 10/7 - Beta 1 now available
What’s New?
The Grid element (with a visual Grid editor) is the main feature for this release. We will be including some other small changes like bug fixes, optimizations, etc. but no other large features.
Design Cloud has been added to X, and Sites has replaced Expanded Demos. This means Pro users now have access to all the former Expanded Demo content, and X users have access to the Content templates and Presets.
The Changelog has been updated with detailed information on using the Grid, and you can be sure that we’re planning on creating video content as well.
How to Test
Here are some general pointers on trying out the element:
- Drag in a Grid element from the Element Library.
- Click one of the 15 predefined Presets to get started.
- In the upper right corner of each Grid, you’ll see an icon to start the Grid Editor. This will allow you to move and resize cells.
- You can download a template of three finished examples. It is packaged as a single Content template you can import to see them all together.
- From the Layout pane, a Grid can also be moved up to be a child of a Section (like Rows)
- You can set the Content Layout Element preference to “Grid” and it will be the new default child for a Section.
