Preview of site on different stack

How can I preview what our existing site would look like if I switched it to a different X theme stack, from Integrity to Icon?

It says on your site if we purchased X theme, the Expanded Demos are available to us. Where can I locate them, and is there a way to install it and design / tweak it, before publishing it to test it before going live without altering our current live website on X?

Is this X theme template on Ethos? https://demo.theme.co/gym/

Hi @POPFIZZ,

Thank you for reaching out to us. You can install sites via Design Cloud. To see the live demos please visit https://theme.co/designcloud/. You can access Design Cloud via X > Design Cloud

It is important to note that while the import of a Site asset will not overwrite or alter any of your posts, pages, or portfolio items, your Theme Options will be altered . This is necessary so that we can setup your installation similar to the demo of your choice. If you already have your website setup but are still curious to try out a new Sites demo, please make sure that you first backup your Theme Options by going to the X / Pro > Validation menu within Theme Options and clicking Export :

To learn more about Design Cloud please see: https://theme.co/docs/design-cloud

If you only want to change the stacks let’s say from Integrity to Icon, you can do it via X > Theme Options > Stack without losing any customization.

Yes the Gym demo is based on Ethos stack.

Hope this helps!

So there is no way to “preview” what the site theme options in Design Cloud would look like installed on the site, without editing the site permanently and its settings, and it changing the way the site is viewed live on the internet right now then?

Hi @POPFIZZ,

You can actually preview your site and see how it looks in a different stack when you go to X/Pro > Theme Options then go to Stacks.

You can then switch to a different stack and the preview content area should update. You can click on the links on the site in the preview content for you to check on the pages. What you just have to make sure is that you don’t save the settings while you’re on the preview.

Hope this helps.

I miss being able to click through the stack options on the x theme website - made it much easier to figure out which one I wanted to base a design off of - now I have to install x before I even do any design JUST to see if what I want to create will be optimal in a particular stack…

Please put those demo designs back in place on your website to save us some hassle. Kinda made more work for me today,

Hi Jade, Yes – I understand that, and have done that. Thank you.

I’m looking for an option as I mentioned, to preview the templates (not the stacks) over our site, before committing to installing it and dumping code all over a site, that I don’t know if we want, and, having to risk getting it cleaned up.

That doesn’t make sense.

What way can I test the templates without installing them on the site?

If there’s no way to accomplish this, how can I install it on a test site to test the design visually, before bringing it onto our current website ?

Hi guys,

@adgroupagency , are you referring to online demos? You can check them here https://theme.co/designcloud as nabeel provided. Instead of listing the URL of the demo, the small thumbnail preview are displayed for each demo. If you’re looking for demos such as integrity 1, integrity 2, and so on, they are no longer available as we move forward to Design Cloud, those demos are old which no longer applicable to ever-growing features of the theme and builder.

@POPFIZZ, You can always create a test site where you can test all of them. That way, you don’t have to clean your main installation, just import the demo you prefer based on the selection you imported to your testing site. We don’t recommend importing them to the already working site, or partially developer site. It’s not a good practice, plus we have live previews available in design cloud like this

Hence, the only option to really view it if you don’t prefer the Design Cloud preview is by creating a test site, you can always create a test site to your local machine. The Design cloud will not create a separate test site just to create a preview of a template which already been available by clicking the see it live. Plus, Design cloud has no capability to clean imported templates as there is a chance it may damage the already existing contents sharing the same name or IDs.

Thanks!
