Post slider loading ultra slow and menus not displaying after slider loads

Hi

I have the latest xtheme version 7.2.3 and the latest Wordpress version. I also cleared the cache from the site and also from my browsers and checked the problem from an incognito page too. In all those cases the post slider was loading extremely slow ( I´m talking minutes ) and the menus from my header weren’t displaying until the slider appeared on the page. I tried to access to Cornerstone and it didn´t allow me. It just stayed loading but never let me access so I could remove the slider.

Can you help me fix this issue, please?

Hi @Justaman78,

Thank you for writing in, most of the time that kind of issue is caused by a 3rd party plugin or a 3rd party element error. Please do testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

If the issue persists, please provide us login credentials in a secure note so we can take a closer look.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

Ok I will do a test and let you know. Regards.

Ok I deactivated all the plugins at once and clear chache. I also checked again from an incognito window. In all instances the problem persist. I think the problem is with the theme itself not with the plugins, because there was no plugin active and the problem still was happening. How I can make a secure note with my credentials?

Hey @Justaman78,

Your page loads slow because of it’s mostly comprised of images that are most probably not optimized. What you need to do first is optimize your images. The following tutorial video will show you how.

Next, follow all the suggestions mentioned in our performance video series available in our Youtube Channel. If you like the tutorials, don’t forget to subscribe to receive notification if there’s a new video.

If your page is still slow after that, you need need to load fewer posts like reducing posts in Theme Options > Ethos > Post Carousel and also in WP Admin Menu > Settings > Reading > Blog pages show at most.

If your site is still slow, the problem could be your web host. Web host is also a speed factor. You can learn more about choosing a web host in our Performance article here: https://theme.co/docs/how-to-improve-site-performance

Hope that helps.

Hi
I´m sorry but what you propose is not a solution, here is why:
Your answer doesn´t tackle the problem of Cornerstone not loading, so I am not able to remove the Post slider or do any major change to the theme.
Also, my menu is not working properly. Ususally when I hover over some of the menu pages those unfold automatically and show you different pages you can access. This functionality is not working properly. only works once the post slider appears. I think both, menu and slider fully load at the same time( and takes them forever ).

Regarding what you propose:

I use Imagify as my image compressor and I never had an issue before.
How I can modify the post slider if the Theme options page like Cornerstone doesn´t load at all.
I´m sure my webhost is not the issue , the other websites I have with Siteground in my plan work totally fine.

Of course i rechecked everything again with my cache and cookies clear and the problem persist. I need to access to Cornerstone or themes options from my dashboard and I´m not able. I have the latest version of Xtheme installed. The only thing I found strange is I´m not able to validate my active license from my dashboard although I have one. I entered several times the code and doesn´t validate it. So there is another mistery to solve.

Hello @Justaman78,

I have tested your site here: https://tools.pingdom.com/#5c77435ab2c00000

It is almost have a perfect grade. The few problems in your site were caused by a JS error on the page. This usually occurs when you are editing in Cornerstone.

These errors could be caused by a 3rd party plugin/s. You could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Meanwhile, please also make sure that both the WordPress dashboard URL and the Site URL in Settings > General > Site URL have the same https set up so that Cornerstone preview editor will properly load. (This can easily be fixed by installing really Simple SSL plugin)

Kindly let us know how it goes.

Hi
I ALREADY TESTED THE PLUGINS. THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE PLUGINS. This is the third time your team suggest this as a solution and I already tested the 3rd party plugins. I switched them all off and THE PROBLEM WAS STILL THERE.
My wordpress URL and my site URL match so this is not the issue either.
I have the feeling you guys don´t read the posts.
I commented about my license not being able to be validated even if a have a valid key number with a valid license. Maybe this has something to do with it. Because nobody in your team even gave a solution for that or care about it.

I´m getting fed up with this issue, it´s been going on for days. The theme is not functioning well, Cornerstone is not loading and I´m getting fed up with this.

Hey @Justaman78,

We’re sorry that my colleague suggested the “3rd party conflict test” again but for the record, we only suggested it twice not thrice. If you’ve read my previous post, I said nothing about 3rd party plugins because I already read that you’ve tried it.

Still, regarding my previous post, I told you the exact problem with your page and that is it has lots of images. When I checked previously, your page weighs 6MB. Now that you’ve removed the slider, it’s 4.4MB. It’s still huge. You need to reduce some more posts as I’ve said previously.

I must admit though that I missed the menu and your Cornerstone problem. I’d just like to kindly ask that you post 1 issue per thread only to avoid this confusion in the future.

Regarding the menu issue, it’s related to the slow loading of your page. The menu is powered by Javascript and that couldn’t run if the page has not completely loaded.

Regarding Cornerstone, it’s not possible to edit your home page with Cornerstone because Cornerstone is a content builder and there’s no content area on your home page because it’s the index or blog page. I see you’ve already removed the slider though so I believe you now know how to remove Ethos features in the Theme Options as I’ve showed you previously.

Regarding your image optimization, it’s good to know that you’re using an image optimization plugin. The plugin you’re using doesn’t reduce the physical size of your image though so though your image is optimized, the file size is still huge. Try using a maximum of 920px image for all your posts. Currently, you’re using a Full HD size or 1920px.

Hope that helps this time.

Thanks for the answer. I will follow your advice and try to reduce image size. Regarding THEME OPTIONS doesn´t load either. I can´t remove the post slider if I can´t access the Theme options.

Hi @Justaman78,

We’d like to check the issue on your Theme Options but the credentials you provided above does not work anymore. Please check.

In the meantime, try to increase your site’s PHP Memory Limit

Regarding the page speed issue, If we take a look at the developer tools’ network tab when we load the site and sort it by time (see screenshot below), we can see that there are couple script resources that the site is waiting to be loaded (which it never did until it timed out/error), that resources are coming from an external source, and most of that resources (except the images) you see on the screenshot are coming from an external source (those are what hindering the site to load). This means that there might be something wrong on how you integrated these resources on your site (I know these are ads, but I’m not sure if these are all ads) regardless, it should not throw those errors, as you can see on the screenshot the site is trying to load that indie.fwdfjkqz.webcam for a full minute (before it give up/fail), and there is a possibility that that error is causing the conflict on the Theme Options.

Thanks,

I´ve sent you a secure note
Thanks for the analysis. I will check with ezoic and see if they know about this error loading. Please if you can check in the meanwhile my site if you can solve this theme options error.

Regards.

Hey @Justaman78,

Just to clarify first, Ethos has 2 sliders. 1 “banner” slider and 1 is the carousel slider. I believe I remember you had the “banner” slider enabled previously but I might be wrong.

Because I only see a carousel slider now, I deactivated it in Theme Options as I’ve said previously. I got the spinning wheel issue at first but after I’ve cleared the cache of your optimization plugins and deactivated them, Theme Options was able to load so I was able to deactivate the Post Carouse of Ethos. I’ve kept them deactivated to show proof.

Your site’s now faster than the last time I’ve checked. I see images load immediately. However, overall, your page is still slow to load scripts and the reason for that is what Friech showed you. Those scripts are not coming from our theme. Since you already tried deactivating ALL 3rd party plugins before, those scripts could be coming from your ads.

Regretfully, there’s nothing we could do now as we have discovered the cause of the issue. We have showed proof now that the issue is not coming from our theme. It’s just affected by 3rd party factors and that could happen to any theme or builder too.

Please have the developer of the scripts causing issues to your site to investigate the problem with their code. For your optimization plugins, contact the plugin developers to exclude the x directory and everything that comes after it like /x/#/options/.

Hope that helps and thank you for understanding.

Hi, thanks.
I see you already removed the psot slider from the top of theme. For the moment this will help the site look better.
I appreciate you fixed the problem with Theme options not loading. Now I can access to the theme post very quickly.

I´m speaking with my ad network and I already told them it must be their code ugging the site. The buttons from the header still don´t work properly but as your colleague was able to demonstrate is not the theme causing the issue. I couldn´t detected the problem myself because deactivating plugins wasn´t showing any improvement or fixing of the issue.
I will send them your latest recommendation about excluding the x directory.

Thanks for your help and I really appreciate the help.

Regards.

You are most welcome @Justaman78!
