Portfolio and Breadcrumb link issues

I am experiencing a couple of different link issues:

  1. I updated the Portfolio Settings (Labels) under Theme Options. I changed some names. This broke the portfolio options I had set up - see https://any.0ef.myftpupload.com/topical-studies/ (click on a study) and the new button labels do not show up.

  2. The breadcrumb links on this page are not working properly. When you click on the “Faith Perspectives Blog” breadcrumb link, the page goes to the main page of the website.

Thanks for your help.

RE: #1 The portfolio stopped working because I changed the portfolio URL slug under Theme Options > Portfolio. I changed it back and it is working now. However, i would like to change it. Is there a way to do that without breaking existing portfolio entries?

Hi Dedra,

Thanks for reaching out.
Please find the answer to your queries below:

  1. Please reset the permalink after changing the slug.

  2. It seems that the Blog Page is not set yet from the Settings > Reading. Please set the Blog Page once and check if that issue still exists.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

Thanks, resetting the permalink worked.

  1. When I set the blog page, all of the formatting from “The Grid” disappears and there are no longer 2 columns, just one big column. Any suggestions?

Hi Dedra,

Can you please give a screenshot on what issue you are seeing when setting your blog in the Settings > Reading so that we can better understand the issue you are facing on.

Thank you.

The “Front End” is in a single column when I set this page to the Post page in the Wordpress > Reading settings.
But, this is not what I have configured in the Pro page builder. I have it set to columns and have some other text on this page. I also don’t have a background color on the header.

Hello Dedra,

Please be informed that when you set a normal page as your Posts Page, any content added to that page will be discarded.

Please see the #2 in this WordPress article: Creating a Static Front Page | WordPress.org

2. When I set the blog page, all of the formatting from “The Grid” disappears and there are no longer 2 columns, just one big column. Any suggestions?

  • The above is the reason why your grid was replaced with the default dynamically generated post items. If you want to design your own blog index and not wanting to use the default blog index layout, please create your own custom layout by using the new Layout Builder. Check out the layout builder in this documentation:

Best Regards.

Thank you, that helped a lot. I do understand that now. I have another question but am going to open another thread.

Hi Dedra,

Glad that we are able to help you.

Thanks
