Password protected page with Layout-Builder

Hi there

Is it possible to make a content page, built with Layout-Builder, password protectet?

Thank you very much for your help!

Kind regards,
Felix

Hi Felix,

Thanks for reaching out.
The password can be set to the Page directly through the Default editor or page list, even if any layout is assigned to it.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

Hi Tristup

Thank you very much for your reply and for the screenshot. Unfortunately, I don’t see this particular page in the default editor. It is built with the X-Pro Layout Builder:

Where can I see this page in the default editor?

Thank you very much for your help!

Kind regards,
Felix

Hi Felix,

It is not a Page it is a Post so you can find that in the Posts list of WordPress admin dashboard as shown in the given screenshot.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

Hi Tristup

Thank you very much for looking into this. Yes, that’s right but if I protect the post by password, the page appears anyway with the login section within:

Any idea, what could be the problem?

Thank you very much for your help!

Kind regards,
Felix

Hi Felix,

The password always protect the content part of the post or page. And that is why it is protecting only the content part of the post not the content you have added to the layout.

Thanks

Hi Tristup

Thank you very much for your reply. Yes, but with me, it protects nothing. I can see the content part and the content I have addded to the layout.

What could I do?

Thanks again for your help!

Kind regards,
Felix

Hello Felix,

The content you added to layout is common to all assigned pages and it can’t be password protected like any page or post. But you can control the content by adding the conditions into the section or row or column. I would suggest you go through the following documentation on it.

NOTE: I have also checked the specific post and found that it does not have any content in it.

Thanks

Hi Prakash

Thank you very much for your reply and the informations.

I don’t want to protect just the content, for me it would be great to protect the whole post-page. I just don’t understand, why the password section is showing up in the middle of the Layout Builders content.

What am I missing?

Thank you very much for your help!

Kind regards,
Felix

Hi Felix,

As my colleague explained that the password only protects the content of the post or page it only shows where the content of the post is rendered. The content before and after the password is coming from the layout assigned to the post.

As the above screenshot explains the structure, it shows the password on the post content area only.

Hope I am able to explain it.
Thanks

Hi Tristup

Thank you very much for your explenation. So is there no possibility to protect tis page with a password?
https://gribimetzgete.ch/sitzplatzreservation-gribi-metzgete-2022/

This page should only be reached by members with a password.

Thank you very much for your help!

Felix

Hi Felix,

Unfortunately, you can only restrict the Post Content area in the Layout as explained in the above diagram.

Thanks

Hi Tristup

Ok, thank you very much. Do you know a plugin whit which I could password-protect the Post Category so the post itself would be not accessable too?

Thank you very much for your help!

Kind regards,
Felix

Hi Felix,

Unfortunately, we don’t have any suggestions on any plugins for this.

Thanks

Hi Tristup

Ok, thanks anyway.

Any chance it woud be possible with
[protect] You can’t view that. [/protect]

Thank you very much for your help!

Kind regards,
Felix

Hey Felix,

The reference link also protect the content only not the page itself. Regretfully, we don’t have any functionality that can do that.

Thank you.

Hi Marc

Thank you very much for your reply. Is there a possibility to passwort-protect a button, which links to the registration page? Like this:

Sorry, but I need to find a solution! Help please!

Thank you very much!

Kind regards,
Felix

Hi Felix,

Unfortunately, there is no such option too. I would suggest you check the plugins available in the WordPress repository at https://wordpress.org/

Thanks

Hi Tristup
