Pagnations not working

Hi, I have some external WordPress help and I am trying to insert page breaks into one of my posts. When I select the page break option in the post editor, it creates a break but it does not add the pagnation.

My support has provided by uninstalling plug-ins and this did not make a difference. They then uninstalled themeco and installed a different theme and it worked fine. This suggests that it is the theme. Please see screenshot. Can you help?
