Page getting corrupted

Hi,

From the raw to rich text option the is getting corrupted, by itself it’s adding breaks. Have a look at this video. https://peakurl.com/5m2rUM and also I can’t find how to import a page that I exported from the site for your ref, find the page template file here. https://peakurl.com/hqYfGz so could you let me know how ti import it and also as per the video why it’s breaking the page and adding breaks?

I’ll add a secure note for credentials so you test it there.

Thanks

Hello @abdurrehman,

Thanks for writing to us.

To export the page as template you can use the template manager to save the page as a template and then export it. Please have a look at this doc to learn more about how to export the page as a template.

In order to help you with your concerns we need to check your settings please share the exact page URL so we can check it on end.

Thanks

You just overlooked the ticket, what you’re asking is already there. If you don’t understand then pass it to someone else who does.

Hey @abdurrehman,

I have downloaded the template and imported it to my local testing server. As soon as I save the layout template, switching between Raw and Rich Text, I can no longer replicate the issue. May I ask when you insert the text content, did you type it or have it copied from a document file and pasted in the layout?

Best Regards.

Hey @ruenel thanks finally you’ll able to see the issue and @prakash_s just wasted time.

That text wasn’t copied from anywhere and that was simply there and even though I clean it up and then use it on the page in raw and why switching to the rich text add breaks even though it’s fresh install?

I’d asked about importing the page but didn’t find the option, if I need to load this page again then where’s the option can you point that out?

Hey @abdurrehman,

If you are adding the text from Raw or HTML view, as soon as you switch to the Rich Text format, you must take into account that the editor will automatically convert a line break into "<br>’’ HTML code and a newline as the end and a start of a paragraph. Here’s what I want you to do;
1.) Open the Text element editor.
2.) When you are in the Rich Text tab, insert several text contents.
3.) Select a few sentences and put the cursor at the end of the sentence.
4.) Press the Enter key to create a new line of paragraph.
5.) Switch to the HTML or Raw tab, and you will see that a <p> was added next to the new paragraph.
6.) You switch back to the Rich Text.
7.) Find any word at the middle of the sentence and press Shift + Enter key
8.) When you check again in the Raw or HTML view, you will see that a “<br>” HTML tag as added before the word.

Hope this helps.

This is weird that it shouldn’t be adding the br like that because if I have a dot to close the sentence then it doesn’t mean that i need to create a paragraph there as there’s plenty of the room on the right side of the page.

Hey @abdurrehman,

Even when using the default WP editor, a line break gets automatically converted to a <br> HTML tag. As soon as you press the “Enter” key to create a new line, that will also automatically be converted to a <p> HTML code. Check out this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfG5mtKbNZA

This is why, if you copy a document and paste it while using the Rich Text Format, it may display as is, because that is a feature of the Rich Text Format, “What You See Is What You Get”. Behind the scenes, the editor converts the letters and characters into HTML codes, including the spaces, line breaks, and new lines.

Hope this makes sense.
