New X Theme Changed Layout

Hi,

I just updated to X Theme 5.2.5 from 5.2.2.

On my homepage, a section used to be laid out properly and now it’s not displaying right:

Any idea how I can get the hexagons to the left of the text like originally displayed?

Thank you for your help!

Hi There,

Thanks for writing in!,

This may cause due to corrupt css file during the theme upgrade. Please upload the theme files via FTP and check if it fixes the issue. If this won’t work, please send us your word press login details and FTP details with a secure note so that we can have a look.

Thanks

Hi @basanta,

Thanks for your quick response.

I did upload the files via FTP because the automated update failed multiple times. In fact, that was going to be my second support ticket (to ask for help on that topic).

I’ll post my WP login details and FTP details for you.

Thanks again for your help!

Hi There,

Thanks for sending us the details, and really sorry for the confusion.
I checked your site and find out you are using classic feature box for the mentioned section.
Which don’t have a option to make the icon in left and content in right any more. How ever you can make it adding custom CSS, which is not advisable.

Instead of using classic Feature box, you can use classic feature List to get similar content.
I can see, you have already used classic feature list for other section. You can copy that here too.

Thanks

Hi @basanta,

Ok. Thanks for looking into it.

It’s frustrating when themes do not degrade gracefully, but I appreciate the quick support.

Best regards

Hi @basanta,

Now that I’ve updated the homepage with the new classic feature box and saved it, there’s a sidebar displaying (which is not supposed to be).

When I edit the page, the Page Attributes show Default Template and it’s supposed to be Full Width template:

But there is no option to select Full Width. Even though I see the template in the X Theme parent folder.

I don’t see any of the other options I used to see, like “No Container - Header - Footer Page Template” and such.

Unlike https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/full-width-page-format-not-working/15311/3, I’m using the latest version of Cornerstone and X Theme.

What’s going on? Can you help ASAP, please?

Thank you!

Hi There,
I have changed the layout to full width, now its working fine.

Thanks

The sections within the homepage used to go all the way to the edge, but now they don’t:

Any idea why?

Thank you for your prompt responses!

You are seems using the child theme which is not picking some templates of X theme.

please use original X child theme. You can find child theme here https://theme.co/apex/child-themes

Thanks

I downloaded the theme from the location you specified and it only had three files and an empty folder:
/framework
functions.php
screenshot.png
style.css

My child theme has all these files.

I don’t understand what’s missing from my child theme. Can you please clarify?

Its not necessary to have all the files in a child theme.
If you want any custom code you can add to child theme so that it won’t override in next update.
Your child theme having different code and template which causing the conflict.

Thanks

And this is incorrect. You changed the entire website theme to full width, which is not what should be happening! I have a sidebar for all of the site except for a few pages (homepage, contact page, terms, etc.). Now none of the remainder of the website has a sidebar and I do not know where the Options > Layout and Design area is nor what it was before you changed it. PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK.

Then, please help me figure out why my theme is not showing me a FULL WIDTH option for specific pages when I edit the page (not in Cornerstone, but in WordPress edit mode).

Hi There,

I reverted back your layout.

Thanks

Hi @basanta,

Ok, I found what you changed here: https://www.dnacademy.com/x/#/options/x-layout-and-design

And I changed it back so the entire site is not full width, because that was not my intention.

Now, back to my original question, when I go to https://www.dnacademy.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=54870&action=edit I should be able to select “Full Width” (https://www.dropbox.com/s/d6sz61hdxh5wlyf/Screenshot%202017-11-22%2010.23.46.png?dl=0) but there is no option even though the parent theme has the appropriate template.

Why can I not access Full Width from this one page?

Hi There,

we are really sorry, as you are doing customizations and using a custom child theme which is out of our theme support scope.

Thanks for your understanding!
