Need help - cannot figure out how to delay graphics and text as pages are scrolled

Hello. I’m trying to be like google admittedly and also want to speed up my page by having text and graphics load as someone scrolls down the page, not on load of the page itself. I cannot figure out if this is something I would do in the theme or not. Any thoughts?
