Most recent posts on home page

Hi, I have two sites running X.

Neither site is displaying the latest posts on the home page by default. It looks like it may be default to another category somehow. How can i make sure my newly published posts appear on the home page.

Please reply ASAP. Thanks!
Tim Brennan

Hello Tim,

Thanks for writing in! You are having the issue because you have enabled the “Filterable Index” in Cornerstone > Theme Options > Stack > Blog Options. You will have to turn it OFF so that the latest post items will be displayed in your blog index.

Best Regards.

This worked thank you!
Do you know how I can remove the search icon from the MAIN BUTTON bar. I like the one at at the very top but don’t want the one on the button bar. Thanks!

Hey Tim,

You can disable the Search icon in your navigation menu by going to Cornerstone > Theme Options >Headers > Search and turn it OFF.

Always glad to help.

This also worked. Thank you. Next question. I am working with an SEO agency and they asked me enabled breadcrumbs but when i do they appear to be grayed out with a huge white space underneath. How do i change the color of the links so they are not gray and also removed the whitespace. Please see. https://www.onesmartcrib.com/scary-things-to-ask-alexa/ . Also what happened to the old ethos-1 demo site that was available here -> https://demo.theme.co/ethos-1/shortcodes/accordion/ I am looking for sample blog posts and category pages etc. that were part of that demo.

Also, when i click BY ROOM or BY TOPIC in this menu https://www.onesmartcrib.com/smart-home-product-recommendations/ - i don’t want anything to happen other than drop down the menu. In other words, is there a way to avoid it from going to the blank page?

Hey Tim,

1.) The Ethos 1 demo has been deprecated because it was using the legacy shortcodes. We highly encourage you to use the new demos with the new elements. By using the new elements, you will have full control over the elements and their styling.

2.) To change the color of the breadcrumbs, please refer to these old threads:

Please note that custom coding is outside the scope of our support. Issues that might arise from the use of custom code and further enhancements should be directed to a third-party developer.

The points above will be a good starting point and if you are interested you can learn more about CSS selectors and details here.

If you are more interested in having control over all aspects of the footer I suggest that you consider the Pro theme which has a Header builder and you can use various elements to create a footer.

Kindly check the Elements section of our documentation to learn more on which elements you can use on Pro Header/Footer builders.

3.) You can go to Appearance > Menus and use the “Custom Links” with # as the link and By Topic as the Link Text and use it as a parent menu item.

Best Regards.

Fixed the menus thanks to your help again!
Also changed the color of the breadcrumbs but i can’t see to get rid of that extra space underneath. Can you help with that?
Also where are the latest shortcodes i am supposed to be using - and also the latest demo? Is it possible to see the old one still? I modeled both my sites after that. Thanks again.

Also how do i incorporate the Blog category into the breadcrumb

Last question on the remote site it thinks that all of my posts are under the “About Us” in the breadcrumb trail - why is that?

Hey Tim,

I don’t see a Breadcrumb in your sites. Would you mind providing a screenshot?

Please note that we cannot continually provide custom codes. That’s beyond the scope of theme support so if it would come down to using custom CSS, please consider signing up to One where we provide customization guidance.

We also no longer have links to the old demos but in the URL posted by my colleague which is this https://demo.theme.co/ethos-1/shortcodes/accordion/. Try changing ethos to integrity, renew, or icon.

The new way to view the demos is via the Design Cloud.

Regarding the shortcodes, we discourage users to use shortcodes as it’s prone to setup errors. Please use the builders instead. If you really need to use the old shortcodes, you can see them here https://demo.theme.co/renew-1/shortcodes/

Thanks.
