Modern Events Calendar Update not possible

Hey there,

there is a update for Modern Events Calendar 7.36.4. If i click update everything runs through but after refreshing the page the update is not done and it shows this:

Also not possible to activate the plugin again:

Are there any update problems?

I follow because I have the same issue. You can reactivate the plugin from the Pro Validation page btw.

EDIT: I’ve seen right now they’re suggesting to rollback to version 7.35.1

Hey @seven and @fcanc,

Please try updating now. You need to deactivate Modern Events Calendar first then update in Dashboard > Updates or through the Plugins manager.

I have deleted my MEC a few times and reinstalled from Pro but I get the 7.36.4 version which still gives me a license error. I even restored my site from a backup before the plugin was updated and it’s still giving me that version if reinstalled from Pro. Is there somewhere we can get MEC 7.35.1?

This what I’m getting now that I’ve updated to 7.36.4

" Modern Events Calendar: Modern Events Calendar Pro is not activated. New bookings are disabled. Your existing bookings, transactions and attendee lists are intact and can still be exported. Remaining Pro features stop on September 21, 2026. Activate your license"

Same here. Even with the current update to Pro mentioning MEC receiving licence information, it still asking for activation.

Hello @web_wa,

The update in Pro 6.9.4 means that we’re working with the Modern Events Calendar team to provide the necessary licensing information for MEC customers.

However, the MEC licensing integration is not fully available yet. We are working with the MEC team to implement the required changes in the coming weeks, so MEC may still ask for activation at the moment.

We appreciate your patience while this integration is being completed.

Absolutely. Once the licensing integration is fully available, the update will be included in the relevant Pro release notes/changelog. We’ll also do our best to provide an update in this thread when possible.

I can tell you that I’ve verified this on five different sites, and it seems to be working.

Glad to hear it’s working for you now! To complete the process, please go to your Plugins page, deactivate the plugin, and run the update for Modern Events Calendar. Once updated and reactivated, everything should work properly.
