Modern Events Calendar iCal file doesn't work

Hi. I installed Modern Events Calendar. On the single event page, I enabled both Google Calendar and iCal button so we can export to Google Calendar or Outlook. Our company mainly uses Outlook Calendar. However, the .ics that we download from the single event doesn’t work well with Outlook. When I open the .ics file using Outlook:

1. It creates an appointment with an unknown attendee. We don’t need attendee…
2. The time zone is not correct.
3. I can’t save the appointment because it requires me to add value to “To:” field.

There is no available documentation specifically mentioning how iCal or .ics should work on Outlook Calendar so we need to forward your concern to MEC’s developer, Webnus. Before that though, we need to check your setup first and clarify some things so please give us the following info in a Secure Note.

• WordPress Login URL
• Admin level username ans password

Thank you for sending us the login information. I checked the iCal file export and found out that it is showing the UTC timezone.

I am not sure if it will change the iCal export behavior, but would you please follow the steps mentioned here to make sure that you set the MEC Local Time module correctly?

Also, you need to go to WordPress Dashboard > Settings > General and make sure that you set the timezone there correctly.

Regarding the Attendee, I checked the iCal file and there is no reference of attendee, so, unfortunately, this is something that Outlook adds when it can not find the attendee. I suggest that you fill the attendee field with a placeholder or just live with the fact that Outlook shows the attendee as unknown.

If Outlook does not show the attendee that you set in the MEC option that is another story and I’ll be happy to follow up.

I am not sure about the TO field. Would you please kindly give me more detailed information? Maybe a screenshot with the description?

I used the file and added that into the Mac Calendar app and it is added without any issues and showed the event in the calendar.
