Modern Event Calendar iCal File issue

Hi, I am creating a new topic because my previous topic was closed. I didn’t reply soon enough. This is the additional information of Modern Events Calendar iCal file doesn't work

I reviewed the iCal file generated by Modern Event Calendar and found few issues.

Issue #1: The description should use “\n” to break the lines; but the iCal file generated by the Modern Event Calendar uses carriage returns to break the lines. Therefore, in Outlook, it only reads the first line.

I manually changed carriage returns to “\n” and it works correctly.

Issue #2:
In the iCal file, there is *ORGANIZER; CN=OHRPP:MAIL TO:**:
image
which causes Outlook to create an event that has To field

And when the user click “Send Update”, he sees this message. Our customer doesn’t like that.

Issue #3:
Also, the code ORGANIZER; CN=OHRPP:MAIL TO: adds the OHRPP as the organizer to the calendar. OHRPP is not a recognized attendee to the user.

Issue #4:
Outlook complains about the unsafe attachment. For users who are not technical savvy might not know what to do when they see that message. Our customer also doesn’t accept this prompt…

These are the issues that we found so far. Please let me know if you need more information. Thank you!

Hey @joannhu,

Issues #1 and #3 are formatting conflicts so I’ll post this in our issue tracker so they will be forwarded to MEC’s developer, Webnus.

Please just note that we do not guarantee that this will be fixed by them as they do not have documentations as to what are the limitations in terms of compatibility when importing MEC’s iCal export to Outlook. If you need immediate answers, you need to purchase a standalone MEC license to gain access directly from Webnus support. It’s still not a guarantee that they’ll fix the issue though as they might not support Outlook. Another possibility is if they’ll recommend that you hire a developer to customize the plugin.

For issue #2, you need to set the Organizer’s Email.

Issue #4 is a problem with Outlook. It marks images from your site as dangerous. Please contact Outlook support for this.

Hope that helps and thank you for understanding.

Hi @christian,

Thank you for your answers and posted issues #1 and #3 in your issue tracker!

Just FYI, on MEC’s website, it does mention Outlook.

Thanks for pointing that out, @joannhu.
