Merging to Font Manager not working

This is a continuation of another thread, please read it first:

Working on my main site now (not staging) I updated my theme to the latest, enabled Font Manager, and disabled the old X font plugin. Fonts on the site are still not working. See private note for examples.

Hi @WideBlueSounds,

Thank you for writing in, I see a couple of issues on your setup, first, you did not deactivate the X -Typekit Plugin, please deactivate and delete this to avoid conflict.

Second, I see you have added your Adobe Fonts Project ID successfully on the Font Manager. But you did not define any of those to be used, I see the Body Copy and Headings are set to Helvetica.

You need to define the custom font there first, so you can then use it on the Element’s font-family dropdown option.

And please remember to clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, Cloudflare, and browser’s cache). This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

Okay I did all that - thanks.

Still have the issue.

In theme options I can see some of the fonts (not all) fixing themselves in the preview as I go into Font Manager and click around. But then I hit save, then save again, and refresh and it all reverts until I open Font Manager again. This is a critical bug.

Then on the live site nothing is changed. I turned off Cloudflare and I don’t use caching.

The first big header is supposed to be a font that I enabled in Font Manager. You can see it’s clearly not loading right.

I don’t understand why I’m being forced to pick a body and header font, like I’m being backed into using them for all headers and body. Is this going to break my site? What if I want one font for h1 h2 h3 and another for h4 h5 h6?

Assuming no foul, I have four custom fonts so I added them as body, header, font 3 and font 4. Now how do I get my site working as it was before without re-coding it all?

Please fix it first, and then maybe show us what you did afterward. This is extremely unacceptable and this isn’t the time to teach me a lesson – this is my business and I’m losing credibility and sales by the minute. This is business critical.

Thank you :pray:t3:

Hi Nathan,

Is it the “Inspiration You Can Hear” text you are referring to? If so, I have checked and this text is generated by a plugin you are using and the plugin is overriding the font you set in the Theme Options.

Perhaps there is a setting in the plugin where you can set the font of the text. Please also note that since this is a third party plugin, we cannot provide support for its setup.

You might have misunderstood how the Font Manager works. The fonts you have added in the Font Manager will not take any effect yet. You are just merely adding fonts there that you can use on your site.

By default, there Font Manager have the Body Copy and Headings fonts. You are free to delete these since these are just fonts you want to use on your website.

You can just have one font if you like.

Then you can go to your Theme Options and the Pro builder, you can find the fonts you have added in the Font Manager in the font settings. For example, when you go to Theme Options > Typography > Body Font.

If you select the option, you can find the 4 fonts you have added in the Font Manager as the options:

There is the Headings Font setting in the Typography option of the Theme Options.

Headings Font will actually affect headings such as h1, h2, and so on.

This might just be a matter of knowing how the Font setup using the Font Manager work so kindly take time to read our documentation for the Font Manager which explains how it works in detail:

Hope these explains it.

There is no plugin generating the header! The site is partially hand-coded and those are styles in the CSS.

Am I missing something here? Who uses a 3rd party plugin to generate headers? Did we just make a random assumption without taking 5 seconds to check that it was right?

I don’t mean to assume that I’m important… but I did say this is urgent. Just seems like no one cares.

Hi Nathan,

I can see your headlines are now on “nimbus-sans-condensed”, and the content copy as “proxima-nova”

Please clear all your caching feature. All your headlines should now on “nimbus-sans-condensed” unless there is another custom CSS that applies another custom font-family, the same thing with the body font it should now be on “proxima-nova” unless there is another custom CSS that change it.

Thanks,

Okay, that is definitely confusing UI but thanks for the clarification.

So after all this, the issue in my first post remains. What should we try next?

Hi Nathan,

The X – Typekit is now deactivated on your site, this Typekit request that returns 404 might be a caching, please clear all your caching features (Internal and CDN).

Or maybe you have another plugins or customization that does this request https://use.typekit.net that is still there until now. Please do testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time. Also, try switching to the parent theme, the issue might be on your child theme’s customizations.

Thanks,
