Menu Navigation From Hover Sub-Menu to Click

Hello,

I had a previous forum post regarding side menu in pages for support articles but unfortunately you do not allow reopening or responding to closed topics which this post is an extension of.

Issue:
My main menu has roll over expand for sub-navigation. When inserting the side menu for page navigation it’s set to hover over display sub-menus which is not good. I need click to expand sub menu’s for that particular sub-menu inline left.

Thanks for updating in!

The example URL, https://managewp.com/features/backup/, is using a custom post type “features”. When you say, “need click to expand sub menu’s for that particular sub-menu inline left”, does that mean you already set this up? Could you please share the URL of the site or page so we can check it?

My primary navigation menu is hover to expand. How do I create the left side menu to be click to expand or expanded at start?

Hello @z1z1z1,

In case you are using the Pro theme custom header, I would suggest that you go to the custom header->Settings ->Enable the Multi Region options.

Go back to the Outline-> Select the Left header and add the Header bar and other header element for the let side header.

Thank you, but that does not seem to be the solution I’m needing. Not sure how else to explain it other than I need to create and design a vertical menu that is separate from the main or primary site navigation for a set of pages and sub-pages to handle learning type modules and section navigation.

Hey @z1z1z1,

You will have to create a custom single layout for the pages or set of pages. If you are not familiar with the Single Layout Builder, kindly check this out: https://theme.co/docs/single-templates

In that layout, you will have the following structure:

Section
   Row
     Column Left - 
           This will house your menu to select pages or sub pages

      Column Right
           This will have the page title and the page content

Have you created these set of pages and sub-pages already? We would be happy to double check your site if we can log in. You can create a secure note in your next reply with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WP login URL
– WP username
– WP password
– WP Administrator Role
– Confirmation that we can access and make changes to your site
