Menu Issue with Two-page site

Hello. I’m building a two-page site. The menu items are as follows:

Home - TVC - Web - Clients - Testimonial - Contact.

Page One: Home (which includes TVC, Web, Testimonial, and Contact)

Page Two: Clients.

Once I enter Page “Clients” I can exit out of it to Testimonial and Contact but not
to the other categories - TVC and Web - even though I’ve checked to make sure they are set up the same way. I

Is there anyway you can take a look and see what mistakes I may have made? Thank you so much.

Hey There,

Can you provide us with the URL of the two pages so we can take a look at the link structure. Thank you!

Hello

I may have finally did it right. But would you mind checking anyway and let me know if there’s a better way of doing this? Thank you so much.

Hey @beastmedia,

Your setup now is correct. You’re using Full/Absolute URLs for the Global Navigation and Relative URLs for the page that uses the One Page Navigation.

Glad you’ve figured the correct solution.

Cheers!

My menu stopped working again. Once I go into the second page I can’t get out of it unless I return to the HOME page. I have both the HOME page and the second page set to ONE PAGE NAVIGATION. is that the problem. My url is https://beastmedia.com
Please let me know if you need access. Thanks.

Hi @beastmedia,

You’ll have to use a different menu for primary and one-page navigation. Example, create a menu for home page and assign it as one page navigation, and that navigation should contain relative URL (#ID format). Then another menu set as Primary menu which contains URL with absolute URL ( eg. //example.com/#ID format)

Relative if it’s linking on the same page, and absolute if it’s linking outside of the current page.

Please note that it’s necessarily to have one menu, one page navigation tend to always have different menu if your site has more than one page. https://theme.co/docs/set-up-one-page-navigation

Thanks!

Hi Makoto,

Thank you for the clarification, I have check your One Page menu on home page and Clients page (https://beastmedia.com/demo-home/works/) and it looks you configure it properly.

Yes, that is correct.

Correct again.

The 384 is the page ID which is the ID of your CLIENTS page https://beastmedia.com/demo-home/works/. See this documentation on How to Locate Post/Page IDs

But you don’t really need to determine the page ID since you’re using the Post Name permalink.
So instead of https://beastmedia.com/?page_id=384/#hotels_com you should use https://beastmedia.com/demo-home/works/#hotels_com, but either way should work fine.

Hope that shed some lights,
Cheers!

Thank you for the explanation about the page ID.

I have another related issue as below:

I am currently building a new site locally while keeping my old/current site active online.
They are both two-page sites, similar but slightly different.
The old one online has Main Page: HOME and Second Page: CLIENTS while the new one I’m building locally has HOME and BRANDS
The issue is when I’m on the local site, and click on any menu item under the subpage “BRANDS” - I’m taken to the top of the sub page in the ACTIVE SITE.

For example, one of the menu items in the Local site is pointed to

https://beastmedia.com/#godiva_brand (this corresponds to a section on the BRANDS page)

When I click on it, II am taken to the top of the SUB PAGE in the ACTIVE SITE WITH the url: beastmedia.com/demo-home/works/#godiva

What do you think is going on? Any suggestions?

Thank you so much.

Makoto
