MEC Shortcode Event Description "Read More" bug

On this page I’m using the MEC Shortcode to display my events: https://rudys.shop/classes-events/

The Event on April 12 has a description that is longer than the allocated space, so it has a “Read More” anchor tag. This tag doesn’t expand that element to see the hidden text, as would be expected. Instead, it refreshes the page.

Is this a known bug?

Hello @RinardMedia,

Thanks for writing to us.

It seems that you are using the older version of the plugin I would suggest you please update the plugin, I also noticed that there is no Javascript console error it might be due to the plugin conflict or custom code. I would suggest you please troubleshoot the common issue with our guidelines and recheck it. If it doesn’t work, it would be best if you could copy your live website to your staging area and send your details in a secure note so that we can investigate your setting without breaking your live site. Please provide the following details

  • WordPress Login URL
  • Admin-level username and password

You can find the Secure Note button at the bottom of your posts

Thanks

I had attempted the update the plugin multiple times and just found an old forum thread that mentioned disabling the plugin in order to update it. I did that (diable, update, enable) and the issue has resolved itself by removing the “read more” entirely, which works.

Thanks for the help.

Hello @RinardMedia,

The plugin itself is clamping on the excerpt. It has a built-in CSS that displays up to 4 lines only. You can either make the overflow of the container set to visible or use custom CSS to display the Read More as inline.

Hope this makes sense.
