MEC local time in List View

Hi,

MEC has a Local Time module that allows users to see event times in their local time zone.

I have created a List View for my events via the Shortcodes function, and I’d like to be able to add the local time module within this list view. Unfortunately it’s not possible to add this within the Shortcodes section, but I’m sure it must be possible with CSS.

Any idea how I would do this?

Hello Michael,

Thanks for writing in! Regretfully, the local time will only be reflected in the single events page. It will not be displayed in any other views. The creators of the plugin were already adding the possibility of using the local time in all the views in their future updates.

Best Regards.

Hi,

Many thanks for your help, and for the info.

I opened a support chat with Webnus, and they said adding local time to the list view would be possible with some custom CSS, however they declined to go any further. Would you be able to throw any light on their suggestion?

Hi Michael,

Unfortunately, this is outside the scope of our support. The following guide might help you to inspect the elements to get the correct selector:

Just an update to the above. The developers have now included local times as an option in Shortcodes, including in List View and Countdown.

However, there is a bug in local times when seen in List View. All times show as the same time, so for example whatever the UTC of an event is set to, the List View in the UK will show all local times as 1:00 am - 1:00 am.

This is in version 5.3.0 of the plugin. I believe the developers may have fixed this in version 5.3.5, can you confirm? If so, would you have a timeline for 5.3.5 becoming available in X?

Many thanks!

Hey Michael,

Our developers are current testing the latest release update of MEC. Once we are done with compatibilty and conflict test between the plugin and the theme, the update will be available in your WP dashboard. Watch out for it.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hey @ruenel,

Many thanks for your reply, I will keep an eye out for the update.

Meanwhile, are you aware of the Local Times bug, and is it your understanding that the bug is fixed in version 5.3.5?

Hi Michael,

We do not have direct access to the bug list of the bundled plugins but you can check their changelog for those information:

Whatever bug fixes they include in the update they release will be included in the update we are testing for.

Hi @jade,

Thanks, I checked the changelog previously and it’s not clear whether the bug is fixed in 5.3.5.

I guess what I am asking is, can you see this bug in Local Times (specifically in List View shortcode) within your testing environment in version 5.3.0? And since your developers are testing 5.3.5, can they see whether the bug is fixed in this version?

The reason I’m keen to know is that the development site I’m working on offers live international online events, so the ability for people to see a list of events in their local time is very important. Here is what the issue looks like:

Many thanks.

Hi Michael,

I have forwarded this to the developer whose doing MEC compatibility testing. We will let you know when there is an update. Thank you.

Hi Michael,

Update: The issue still exists on version 5.3.5. The testing is almost done and 5.3.5 will be available soon with the theme. We have forwarded the issue again with MEC. Unfortunately, we don’t know exact ETA for them to fixed this bug.

Hi @lely,

Many thanks for the update. Shame the bug is not fixed in 5.3.5, but thank you for sending again to MEC developers.

You are most welcome!

Hey,

Update: the local time issue is fixed in 5.4.0, may I suggest that your development team focus on approving this release rather than the previous one 5.3.5?

Many thanks!

Hey Michael,

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll forward your feedback to the team handling the 3rd party bundled plugins.

Hey @christian,

Thanks for forwarding the info. I see that 5.3.5 has now been approved by your team on the version compatibility page, hopefully 5.4.0 will not be far behind.

However, on the plugins section of the Wordpress dashboard, 5.3.5 does not appear as an install option. Usually there is a prompt to upgrade, but I’m not seeing a way to do that.

Hello Michael,

MEC 5.4.0 is now available. Please update your plugin now.

Thanks.

Is there a way to update the X bundled MEC?
Got “Update Failed: Update package not available.”

Thanks

I get the same error as @Isabelle_808 . First of all, the update doesn’t appear on the plugins page:

Then when visiting the updates page and selecting MEC to update, I get this error:

Hello Michael and Isabelle,

Please deactivate the MEC plugin. Delete it complete and then re install it from X/Pro > Validation > Extensions.

If you are not confident enough to delete plugin through the Plugins section, you can login to your FTP instead and browse to the plugins folder. Delete the MEC folder manually. This is the safest way of deleting a plugin. You can then go back to X/Pro > Validation > Extensions and reinstall the plugin.

@Michael:
I went ahead and updated your MEC plugin in your staging site. Please check out MEC 5.4.0.

Best Regards.
