Malformed Comment URLs - Part 2

This is just a continuation of my last topic, which got closed yesterday: Malformed Comment URLs

Sorry, I was traveling for the holidays.

I tested again, and am still having the issue.

It’s not a malformed URL. I’ve found that - even if you take away everything else - if you simply type in “acrocosm” into the URL field, it will result in a malformed URL on the frontend. As in: the theme will add a bunch of weird markup.

I found it on a handful of other posts, too. If I just add the domain name without the ending and save, it will still do it. Any other deviation, and it will work.

You can try yourself! Type “acrocosm” in the url field and save, and the problem returns. You can even type it manually.

Why would this be happening?

I tried deactivating all plugins and using the parent theme, and it was still a problem.

Let me know, thank you!

Hello @brianjohnsondesign,

Thanks for updating in! I have tested that word on my local server and I cannot replicate the issue.

The issue could only be present in that site only. If you have a staging site or another site, try it there and see if you can replicate the issue. I am guessing that a JS code, plugin or custom code may be causing this issue on the site.

Cheers.
