Make Background Video in Slider to take full width

Hi,

Question 1.
I’m trying to replace the background video in the Integrity Business theme. I instead of black bars on either side where the video doesn’t fit wide-width screens, I’d like to have a background image. How do I do this?

Question 2.
Write now I am using video from YouTube because it works, however I would like to embed video from our campus media host platform which uses Kaltura. The video does not work when I use the video links from this platform. How do I properly embed Kaltura hosted video?

The video I’d like to embed can be found here: https://mediaspace.illinois.edu/media/t/0_4s551otv/159588192

The url to the image I’d like to use as a background instead of black bars: https://fitlabdev.web.illinois.edu/wp/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/blue-flowers.jpg

The website is here: https://fitlabdev.web.illinois.edu/

Hello Vinit,

Thanks for writing in!

1.) There should not be any black bars in the video. Black bars will appear if you are using embed code or has inserted a background vide incorrectly.

2.) You will need to use direct video file url and not a url that displays a video. Your video link should be like this: http://example.com/videl-file.mp4

Ok, I was able to embed video from the Kaltura platform by providing the link to the actual media content. Thank you.

It is still showing the black bars on either side.

Sorry for the wrong url. Included the correct one in the secure note.

Ok, as an update to this, when I link to video stored as a local wordpress asset it does display full screen. It’s only when I link from either YouTube or Kaltura that I’m getting the sizing discrepancy. Can you explain why?

I think it’s fine the way it is and no need to change anything at this point, but for future work it would be good to understand why this is happening.

Hello Vinit,

With background videos inserted in the section or in the slider settings, it is really important that you use direct video file URL. If you use Youtube or Kaltura video links then you will have black bars just what you were having.

It is best that you upload the video in your WP site and then use the direct video file URL which is are now having. If you need anything else we can help you with, don’t hesitate to open another thread.

Cheers.
