Localhost staging question

Hello,

We are using a single license for one of our sites. We are trying to fix some issues but because of the quarantine, we are both working off our localhost. There are 2 of us working on it and the other person working on it has his staging set up on our license. Our theme version is quite old so I am wanting to do a test of updating the new theme version to see if it fixes any of the issues we are having. But it is currently linked to his staging localhost. If I was to change the staging to my localhost and then validated it on my end with wordpress, to see if that fixes the problem, would that cause any problems changing it back to his staging afterwards?

I was also facing the same issues, and then I moved to managed WordPress hosting where they have a platform with push and pull WordPress staging environment, also I and other clients can easily manage our websites easily through their platform. You can take Cloudways free trial for testing their platform this is what I have done initially.

Hi Kern,

Your colleague will have no problem working on the website, but he might lose the ability to install the Extensions (it is possible to use the already installed ones) and using Design Cloud. But it will not disrupt the daily usage of the website.

As a side note, if you want to update the theme from an old version please kindly use the manual update method mentioned here.
