Is it possible to create a public user live filter for new loopers?

I love the new looper post grids due to how customisable they are and how fast they load on the website.
I want to include a public filter so that our readers can quickly find the categories they want to view within a large list of posts. The filter options would also need to include custom categories and, if possible, custom fields. This is especially important for filtering through classifieds or product pages. Most dedicated post grid plugins have this ability and can use multiple filters, so I was hoping this is possible with the new loopers.

The only options I can think are:

  • Include a menu of categories at the top that load a separate page for each type. This is not ideal and tedious to setup. It also means people can’t select multiple filters.

  • Use an invisible tab element to load different grids based on the tab selection. This would keep people on the same page, however, I’m not sure if loading 10+ individual grids would slow down the page.

  • Use a custom field shortcode (from ACF or Toolseet) in the looper settings so when the user selects the field and it automatically changes the grid. Again, I’m not sure this is even possible.

Other plugins like The Grid, Essential Grids, Toolset and Custom Views Pro are good, but can slow down page loading - and definitely have limited design choices. The key though is multiple user filters.

Hello @Innovatek,

Thanks for writing in! Regretfully this feature is not available and cannot be possible at the moment. We’ve added this as a feature request so it can be taken into consideration for future development.

Best Regards.

Hi,

Good to hear that it has been added as a feature request. I love the new looper feature and the posts grid. It would be awesome to be able to add filters for users.

Kind regards,
