Inline Slider Horizontal Swipe is problematic

Hi there, I believe we’re facing a similar issue to this support ticket (Inline Slider Vertical Swipe Buggy).

When swiping and viewing some slides, sometimes it will actual jump backwards and also if you scroll up or down then the slider jumps back to a different slide, sometimes even 5-6 slides backwards. So people can’t pick up where they left off reading in our slider content.

The swiping function seems to be quite buggy and not very intuitive - can this please be looked at? these are the settings we have got set on the slider.

Screen video and url’s in the private message. Happy to provide login details to our staging site if you need it,

Thanks

Hi @lifehouseglobal,

Thanks for reaching out.
I have checked your website but didn’t find the issue you described here. If you are still having this issue, please mention the device, browser name and version, and also the operating system you are using, that helps us to replicate the issue at our end. Also please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

Thanks

Hi there, thanks for the reply.

We are still currently experiencing this problem - myself personally using an iPhone 11, Safari and Chrome browsers. I have also viewed first hand of many other uses on multiple devices in multiple browsers experiencing the same buggy/clunky swiping effects/rolling back to past slides etc.

I’ll put our staging site login in the secure note.

on further testing and troubleshooting myself, it appears to me there is an issue with the pagination.

For example, if I push the arrow buttons to go left and right, it works well. However, if I use the swipe action, the indicators at the top of the slider do not change despite being on a different slide and then once you scroll away from the slider it then jumps back to the slide that it was last on navigated to via the arrow buttons or the very first slide it starts on. Please see screenshoot below.

You can see easily see what happens when you swipe a few slides and then press the arrow button for navigation. (I have turned off Swipe on our live site, as I don’t was users to struggle with it while troubleshooting) - but is untouched on the staging site)

Hey @lifehouseglobal,

In you staging site, I see you’re using Pro version 6.3.2. I tried to replicate the issue using Pro 6.3.9 (latest) and couldn’t replicate the issue. Also, swiping is smooth on your staging site. I only see the bullet navigation not updating. Please first update to Pro 6.3.9 then also switch to the parent theme temporarily.

hi there, thanks for the response. I just updated the theme to the latest and the parent theme is activated. Still getting the same results. See the screen videos in secure note (safari & chrome).

If you have recreated one, do you mind sharing also so I can see that working?

Hey @lifehouseglobal,

The difference with your setup and my test site is the Scrolling option. You’ve set it to Free. It should be set to Snap. I tested importing your slider on to my site and changed that setting and it worked.

Thank you for testing it further. I have tried that and and yes it does help. The pagination at the top starts to work once it is set to snap. I’m still finding when scrolling up or down often it then will change slides. I think the swipe sensitivity or threshold needs improved as even if I swipe straight up, it will swipe sideways sometimes. (have uploaded a screen video to same folder).

This isn’t ideal as we have a video above the slider that people will be watching or listening to and reading a long with the slider content or going back and forth, so for it to be jumping places still, it’s not an ideal user experience. We love Pro theme and being able to make these types of sliders, but this seems to be a bit clunky here or at least needs smoothed out.

Hey @lifehouseglobal,

For that case, regretfully, we don’t have a solution. I’ll post this in our issue tracker so it will be queued to be investigated by our development team. Hopefully, this will be improved in a future version.
