I would like to create a gallery component that enables you to pick images from the media gallery. Is it possible to do that?

Thanks for writing in! Regretfully that would not be possible because when you use the “Create Gallery” feature of the Media Gallery, it will return a gallery shortcode like this: [gallery ids="123,456,789"]. And be advised that in our Component paramater types, we only have the Image. [https://theme.co/docs/parameters#control-types-image]

So its not possible to create a feature that allows user to create a photo gallery (e.g. in a blog post) in cornerstone?

If you want to create a customizable gallery, you can use the Looper Provider feature with the ACF Gallery field. Please check out this video for more details.

So to make it more clear. We have a blog and have the requirement that on blog posts we want to add gallerys that depend on that specific post. So its not a “one-time” gallery thats created only one.
If you need to create a gallery that is attached to the post, you can use the default gallery option from X or Pro. Please check the documentation below for more info.

I cant really add a new gallery in the media tab; I dont have it there.

You need to upload your own images to the Media > Library panel while editing a post. Please provide the login details in a secure note so we can create an example for you.
sure, but I could need instruction/details how its done to see if its something useful for our editors
Sorry for the confusion. The Media Type > Image | Gallery | Video option is only available for portfolio items. Did you disable the Portfolio post type?
For default posts, you need to use the Image element, as @Ruenel mentioned above, and manually select the image from the Media > Library. You can use the Flexbox option or the Grid element to create different layouts.

The portfolio post type can be enabled in Cornetstone > Theme Options > Portfolio settings.
