I feel the images on my homepage are bogging the load time down

So I tried to make my site as visually impressive as possible and am very happy with the way things look.

However, I feel the sections I have on my home page with just images as backgrounds are really bogging the load time on my home page down.

What do you guys think, is there a way to keep the image sections I have, but reduce their image size so the home page loads faster?
