How to give access to certain pages, for adding content only, on website

Hi there,

Just a quick question!

I need to give a customer access to set pages. I do not want to give them any access to the design of the website. I only want them to have permission to add content to the body of the page only; add images and text.

Is this possible?

Thank you for reading this.

Hello Tracy,

Thanks for asking.

You can create a new user under Users > Add New and let the Role be Editor. That way newly created user having Editor level permission will only be able to create content. For more information on user manager, you can refer following post:

Thanks.

Hi Prasant,

That works really well - thank you!

Here’s another question… How do I disable the portfolio function? My customer will not require this.

Tracy

O, yes, and I’d like to also disable the Posts functions.

Hi There,

Thanks again for asking!

There is no such setting to block editor to access Post and Portfolio in wordpress.

Please check this article for possible solutions.

Thanks

Hi Basanta,
I have added the Capability Manager enhanced plugin to my website, that’s great, but doesn’t seem to allow my customer to edit using Cornerstone. Cornerstone is such an intuitive plugin and would be ideal for my customer to use. I have given my customer the role of Editor.

Any other Ideas?

Regards,

Tracy

Hi Tracy,

Navigate to X > Settings and add the Editor on the Content Roles.

Thanks,

Thanks Friech - perfect. :grinning:

I don’t want my customer seeing or having access the the following tabs:
Posts
Portfolio
Contact

Is this also possible to do, and can you show me how to do it please?

Regards,

Tracy

Hello @TracyWake,

Thanks for updating.

You can take a look at plugin Adminimize that give you much better control on which menu items you want to show for a given user role in WordPress backend. I am sharing the URL that can be used to download the plugin file. I am also sharing few tutorial links that you can refer to get started:

Thanks.
