How to create a Blog with Pro

I’ve created 4 landing pages with Pro that I want to port into a blog. I’ve never created a blog before.
I found it super confusing to do so.

Here’s what I did.

  1. Created a blank “Page” and named it Blog (published it).
  2. Settings > Reading | I set “Posts page:” to the newly created Blog page that I created above.
  3. Went to “Posts” and created a new “Post” with dummy text.

The confusing part to me is that I couldn’t find the this newly created blog post anywhere in the “Pro” control panel. How am I supposed to edit a blog post?

Hello NEOKLIS,

The blog page will not show pages but posts that are created in WP Admin > Posts.

Also, the page that you assign as the post page will not be editable in the Pro editor because the post page is using a template to display the post items.

Here is an example of how a blog page will look like when you assign it as the post page:

Hope this explains it.

Can I edit my Posts in the Pro editor?
Is there a quick way to convert a Page into a Post or do I have to re-code the Post from scratch?

Hello NEOKLIS,

Yes, you may use Cornerstone for posts, you just need to allow permission for posts type so that you’ll be able to edit posts using Cornerstone just like pages:

Hope this helps.

Thank you that worked.

How do I add “Social Share Buttons” on my blog posts?

Is this plugin safe to use? https://wordpress.org/plugins/ultimate-social-media-icons/

How do I make all my blog posts live under mydomain.com/blog/ ?
I created a Post and then tried to to change the permalink to /blog/my-first-blog-post but that didn’t work.

I found this link: https://quemalabs.com/blog/how-to-add-blog-in-front-of-your-url/

If I do the above will it break the url structure of my Page? Or does this setting apply only to “Posts”?
For example, if I have a Page created under www.mydomain.com/mypage …Will it’s structure change to www.mydomain.com/blog/mypage? I don’t want that. I only want my Blog posts to get this treatment.

Does the custom permalink field on the settings -> permalink screen apply ONLY to Posts and NOT to Pages?.

Hi Neoklis,

We do not have any experience with the Social Share plugin that you have mentioned. We do not recommend any specific plugin for social media icons and sharing. You can use this guide to choosing the best plugin for your use case.

To change the blog base URL please go to Settings > Permalinks and set the option below:

/blog/%postname%/

The option above will not have any effect on the pages. The pages use their own slug.

Hi Christopher,

Thank you for your prompt and thorough response. I appreciate everyone’s help. I’ve now understood what the posting guidelines are and going forward will post questions that are directly related to your theme.

With regards to your theme, do you have a list of popular plugins that have been tested (aside from those that you bundle with it)? What I mean by tested: confirmation that an out-of-box installation will not break the theme. I’m not looking for support on a particular plugin but just a confirmation that its compatible with your theme.

Hello NEOKLIS,

Yes, we do. Please visit our docs page for the list of supported plugins:

You can also see these supported plugin on your site under Approved plugins:

Hope this helps.
