How to add Templates to Custom Post Type

I made a custom post type as a page type with hierarchy enabled. I am trying to get the “Template” section added. Are these templates something I can add for my custom post type as well?

Thanks for writing in! You will have to install a child theme and then copy the page template files to the child theme where you can assign it to display on pages and your custom post type. This old thread should be able to help you:

Here is the code that was also recommended to a user in the forum that was adapted by adding the names of the custom posts types “Organic Landing, connecter”. I don’t understand why this information would have been given to a user if it basically made the footers stop working.
