How Do I Create a New Button Component

I’m trying to follow the process of creating a component in Max but the example shown there already has a Primary and Secondary button inside the Button document. How do I get that initial button component started so that I have access to the two internal buttons?

Hello David,

Thanks for writing in!

Please check out this documentation to get started in creating your first Button component:

Best Regards.

I’m afraid I’m still struggling to get started with these new components. When I went to the link you recommended I got stuck where it shows the PrimaryButton and SecondaryButton. There seems to be a step missing between Create Component Set and the next screenshot where PB & SB appear. Where do those come from?

Continuing down that page the Component Export screenshot shows Manage Element and Active Statuses. My Manage Element dialog doesn’t have an Active Statuses section.

If I try to follow the video (How to Use Components & Parameters) I have various problems. As the video begins there are already two “buttons” shown. Again, I’m missing something showing how those get created.

Continuing, at about 2:03 in the video the narrator discusses the div tag at the top of the right-side panel. I don’t have a div tag in that location, probably due to the fact that I have no “Learn More” buttons in my new component document.

If I add a Button from the Element Library I can then see an Active Statuses section in Manage Element. And I can click Export Component but the basic structure of my new component appears to be wrong so I am unable to continue following the video.

Apparently, there’s something basic that I must be completely missing. What could that be?

Hello David,

Please be advised that the PrimaryButton and SecondaryButton are completely different buttons. In the video demo, @Kory added two buttons named the Primary button and the Secondary button. Please check out this demo instead:
