Grid view gallery

I am trying to create a masonry type view for gallery on my blog posts. Similar to this:

https://moanabelle.com/sami-mike

Whats the best way to accomplish this?

Curently my gallerys just show up like this in a single row…

https://summerhousehawaii.com/north-shore/amber-colby-5/

Also how to I enable cornerstone for posts? Currently it is only active for pages. I looked under Theme Options, there is not setting under the stack or anything like that, also X > Cornerstone does not have any such settings either?

Hello @juryk,

You can make use of The Grid plugin for the masonry image gallery:

https://theme-one.com/the-grid/masonry-example-2/

To enable Cornerstone for posts, please go to the Permissions Manager and enable it from there:

Hope this helps.

Thank you! It seems The Grid does exactly what I need, however after enabling it I tried to add a Gallery to a post and although I see it here:

It does not appear in the post itself. Ive been sure to also select under general the correct source as well.

here is a link to the page in question:

Hi @juryk,

The items you add in the post’s the grid settings will not be displayed in the post itself.

To add a gallery, please make the gallery in The Grid area then add it to a post.

Then add a grid you have created to the post through the shortcode:

Hope this helps.

When i make the grid in The Grid area there is no option to use alternative media as there is when i use The Grid section in the Post it self like this:

i only see these options in the grid area

It only allows choosing a post type for source with this method. I need just an image gallery as the source.

Hello @juryk,

What you are looking for can be found in the Media tab of your Grid Settings.

Check only the gallery if you only want to use the gallery images. For more details, please check out this documentation:

Hope this helps.

What do you mean? All that setting does is select which post format allows use of The Grid?

All it is displaying is the posts themselves. I just want to use The Grid to display images. as seen here

https://theme-one.com/the-grid/masonry-example-2/

I made this post originally 3 days ago. It seemed like a simple enough question, am I not being clear enough?

Since my initial post no one has been able to answer how to use images as the source to create a nasonry gallery, im not trying to link all the posts in the grid.

Hi @juryk,

@ruenel is correct. That is the correct settings.

As stated on the settings:

If everything disabled then it will display only images

Hi @lely,

Just writing to you to let you know none of what any of you has stated has helped me find a solution to my inquiry. No one has taken the time to actually try to do what they are suggesting and it shows in these half-hearted solutions.

I’ve had to purchase a separate The Grid license solely for actual support.

If this is the level of support that can be expected for third party plugins I strongly suggest you just refer customers to the plugin developer as you responses are low-effort and unhelpful in comparison to inquiries about actual Theme X/Cornerstone questions.

Have a nice day

Hi @juryk,

We’re sorry if we disappoint you. It is not my intention with my reply above. I honestly read the thread multiple times and my understanding of your message is display the image out of your post as gallery using the grid. Correct? If that is a yes, that means the misunderstanding lies on the skin you where using. The image is still tied to the post. It might be your post featured image. To display it exactly like on this sample, please use DOHA skin. On GRID tab use:
Masonry GRID TYPE
Set Item spacing to ZERO

Look at this: https://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cYfZIMAxYR

Each skin will give you different result. Just use DOHA skin to get the same effect and look.

Hope this helps.

No, I was trying to create a gallery with images as a source, not posts.

That setting is not immediately clear and located here.

Post Type needed to be selected and then from the drop down only media library items. The checkboxes youve mentioned doesnt affect this at all.

Hi @juryk,

I think what you’re looking for is custom grid which isn’t possible with The Grid. You can try Essential Grid plugin which came bundled with the theme as well. Please check these

https://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-create-a-nature-photography-gallery-with-essential-grid-wordpress-plugin--cms-34116,
https://www.themepunch.com/essgrid-doc/core-anatomy-of-an-essential-grid/#custom-grid,

Again, sorry for the long confusion as we’re only limited to the knowledge provided by the docs of the given plugin.

Thanks!

Its completely possible as I explained in my previous message. I’ve created a custom grid with The Grid here:

Thanks for your help

Hello @juryk,

I have checked your example grid and you are not using Posts. Your have opted to use the Media Library which will load the images in your library into the grid.

What you have in mind maybe the limitations of using The Grid plugin.

Thank you for your understanding.

Yes im using the Media Library, thats exactly what i was trying to accomplish.

thank you

You are most welcome!
