Grid in footer doesn't correctly size when using gaps - 4.3.0-beta2

Hi Alex,

I have a grid in a footer column that has 3 columns (1fr 1fr 1fr) and a gap of 3em

my understanding is that the gaps will be taken from the total width and then everything else will be shared amongst the 1fr 1fr 1fr

What I am seeing is the grid columns can extend outside of the bar/container they are in

see below how the stags head extends beyond the screen

Is this a bug? or maybe some weird situation I’ve misunderstood?

Hi @scotbaston,

I just tried a 3 column grid in a container and it seems to work like you’ve described it should (not the screenshot) so I think you’re on the right track. Maybe it’s something in the container settings? Or maybe the content of the column is pushing outside the cell. Toggling Overflow to Hidden on the cell might reveal if that’s the case.

If you don’t mind sharing a link I could take a look a closer look at it.

Hi @alexander,

I’ve figured it out, setting three grid columns to 1fr 1fr 1fr and the middle column had a long email address which forced the middle 1fr larger, which i think subsequently made the outer 1fr’s also larger which pushed outside of the frame

setting the middle column to auto, so 1fr auto 1fr, meant the middle column could grow without forcing the outer columns to match the width

Thanks for the sounding board!

Oh gotcha! That makes sense. Looks great now!
