Google Universal Analytics

Hello. We are using the Google Analytics plugin with the Pro theme. We notice that the new operating standard for Google Analytics is Universal Analytics (see https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/upgrade). Are we able to upgrade to Universal Analytics with the Pro theme or plugin?

Thanks.

Hello @Adams,

Google Analytics plugin with the theme are already using gtag.js. This is the library set for the Universal Analytics. See this:
https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/4457764?hl=en&ref_topic=6010376

I have posted a request to the developer if there is still need an update on the process. But the library we are using are the updated one. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response, Lely. It seems that in Google Analytics the information about our website reflects the Universal Analytics options. I can see that our web pages are using gtag.js. I had thought that perhaps Universal Analytics weren’t being used when I ran GA Checker (http://www.gachecker.com) on thumbprintbooks.ca—but perhaps that checker is outdated because it still shows that Universal Analytics are not present for any of the pages on our site.

One further matter. When you check with the developer, can you also find out whether the plugin includes analytics.js (the latest Javascript library) recommended by Google at https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/upgrade/reference/gajs-analyticsjs

Thanks.

Hey @Adams,

The plugin is still using gtag.js file and not been completely upgraded to use the analytics.js file.
We will be informing our developers and follow them up so that in the next update release cycle this can be upgraded.

Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks for that clarification, RueNel. I look forward to future development of the plugin to take advantage of Google’s Universal Analytics.

You’re welcome, @Adams.
