Can I move social icons from https://eightcornersproductions.com to below the footer content so it looks like my other site https://eightcornersbooks.com. BTW, I set both up identically, so don’t know why they look different.

That is due to the Stack you have selected. One of the site is set to the Integrity and another one is Icon, that is why it shows different output in the *footer. Please set the same stack from the Theme Options > Stack for both the site to get the same output.

If you could upgrade to the Pro theme, you can utilize the Footer Builder to be able to create a custom footer or your own desired footer design. While at it, The Pro theme will also allow you to create your own custom header or blog index layout and archive page layouts because of the Layout Builder feature that is only available in the Pro theme.
