Featured images on posts are too big and YouTube videos in posts are showing in a weird format

Hi,
featured images in my blog posts are too big, how do I resize them? I can’t find any setup for that.

Also, I have YouTube videos embedded in some posts and they are showing in a weird wide format, weird size I mean. How do I resize the size of the window, please?

Howdy, @danielprague! Thanks for writing in…your images are that large because you have a very wide main content area on your website in addition to using a single column layout for your blog with the “Integrity” Stack selected with no sidebar. If you wish for this to be reduced a bit on your blog index, you can try going to Theme Options in the Builder and going to the Blog section and updating to Masonry for the layout and then selecting a column count. The other option would be to reduce your overall site width in Layout And Design in the Theme Options.

As for the YouTube videos, there are a couple options. If you’re just featuring one video in your post, we would recommend using the Video post format in the WordPress backend, and then adding your embed code in the meta options as shown below:

When placing your embed code in that text area, it will be featured in a more prominent spot on your posts, as well as showing it on the index (an added benefit). As for your videos in the post not displaying properly, we would need to review your install directly as videos in the content should get formatted properly so that this doesn’t happen. If you want us to do this, you can add your login credentials in a secure note so that only our staff can see it and we can check out what might be going on.

Cheers!

Hey @kory, thank you!
I did it the “video post” way you suggested and you were right, it’s much better.

However, the video in my post is in a huge window, almost a full screen. I don’t want that, I want those videos to be in a small window, say the default YouTube size. But I can’t figure out how to make it smaller. I tried to change the iframe width and height in the embedded video post section of the video post settings in WP but that doesn’t visibly affect anything.

Hey Daniel,

The Featured Video is lined up with the Site Container so there’s no option to adjust it separately. With that said, you will need to adjust the Site Width and Site Max Width in X > Theme Options. Try adjusting to the specified values in the screenshot below just so you could see its effect.

If you really need an adjustable layout or a completely different layout, I’d recommend you upgrade to Pro so you’ll have a Layout Builder which will allow you to create custom layouts for archive and single pages.

Hope that helps.
