This would be extremely useful. It would open up the possibility to have particle effects on any custom shortcode or HTML element. 
Presently, those particles are pretty reliant on specific markup in the “anchor partial” which is used in Buttons and other elements. I don’t think we’ll be able to make it work generically on the content area.
This isn’t quite related to particles, but we do have some improvements coming in terms of general purpose interactions. We are working on a new transform/animation system. We’ll have more info to share on this soon. Ideally it will let you define an initial transform state and hover state. So you could do some really interesting effects. The simplest example would be subtly shifting an element upwards on hover (like it’s lifting up). You could also do things like skew, rotate etc. with this system. We’re trying to build it in a way that it would just work on any element.
