Feature Request - Guttenburg Blocks and WooCommerce Product Blocks

Not sure if its on the request radar, may I request adding Guttenburg Blocks and WooCommerce Product Blocks to the X/Pro builders.

As Automattic embrace this more to introduce new elements it probably going to become a more common use case, certainly with WooCommerce.

Good points here. Definitely worth looking into the possibility of a “Gutenburg Block” element that lets you choose a block and use it in one of the builders. I’m not sure if this is possible or how complicated it might be, but we can check it out.

Much appreciated @alexander

Sure you know another builder’s recent update allows the theme to be completely styled independently and then allow clients to native Guttenburg Blocks and WooCommerce Product Blocks - massively simplifying the client experience.

Gotcha, well that would be possible once the Layout Builder and revamped Theme Options features are completed. Users would still manage the site’s content via Gutenburg, but you could build everything else with our builders.

Great stuff @alexander  Another thing to look forward to.

Hi @alexander ,
Sorry to interrupt this thread. I haven’t been following development properly since the summer and am just getting back in to it. Previously I’ve had good success (with your help!) creating custom post types and my own custom layouts using custom post type templates, dynamic content and custom shortcodes etc…
Just getting ready to start developing for a new customer and wondering about the roadmap/timescale for the Layout Builder… Shall I just continue like I have with the above solution, or is it coming soonish?
Best regards, Steve

Hi Steve,

No problem! Hope you’ve been doing well and that you enjoyed the summer. Yes, that technique of using a Global Block for the template is probably still your best bet for a new project. As for the Layout Builder, I wouldn’t say it’s close. We are making progress though. We’ve started on many of the smaller components needed for the Layout Builder, but we will be doing a separate release for the Grid Element first.
