Feature Request: Copy Cornerstone Content To Another Website

Hi Charlie,

I don’t know if this is possible, but could the CS copy functionality be extended so that it is possible to copy from CS on site A to the same type of element or layout on site B? Currently, this appears to only be possible through the same CS instance.

Thanks.
Christopher

Not sure if you’re aware of this, but there is an option for that kind of tucked away inside the Dev Toolkit.

Just pop it open, click the Tools tab, and scroll down to the very bottom for “Copy Element” and “Paste Element” (in my screenshot below, I have an element named “Body” selected).

I may be mis-remembering, but I believe one caveat is that when copy/pasting across sites, your Globals (colors, etc.) may be different – and this copy/pasting doesn’t do anything to map the values to the “new” site. So I believe you can end up with duplicate colors, and may need to do some cleanup work. But overall, big time saver.

Thanks for that tip - I had not noticed those buttons before, possibly because you need to be clicked into an element before they show. Definitely a solution to my question, though it would be nice to be able to right-click and copy across sites too!

The copy/paste should definitely just try to use the browser clipboard if available. I will get that updated at some point.

Thanks Charlie.
