Feature request: Background Focal Point Picker

I’d love to see The Background Focal Point Picker from WordPress utilized one day in Pro.
Or some native solution. It would so much reduce the need for writing Media Queries to display background pictures as ideal as possible.

I guess it could go to the Image element as well.

Hey, @Misho! Cool idea, I’m not familiar with the library at all so I’d have to familiarize myself with it to see if it could be an interesting fit. We will take note of it, but at this point there will be no new feature development directly within this cycle. Just working to iron out any final bugs before release. Thank you!

@Misho I was literally just writing a feature request on this and it popped up you already have.
Take a look at this that baked in with Statamic: https://statamic.dev/tags/glide#using-the-focal-point-picker

Especially with the layout builder now, would be so good for featured images.

Hey team - I recently updated WP on a site and noticed in the block editor (which I don’t use much myself, usually just clients adding blogs) that they have this:

(not the greatest image example and only noticed it by accident!)
Did it ever get looked into?

Hi @RubberDuckers, yes, that’s the Background Focal Point Picker from WordPress I was referring to in the initial post.

Honestly, Once we got dynamic content inside the background-position and the object-fit, This is not critical anymore to me. But it would be nice to have it.

Ah, shows how much I use the block editor that I only just noticed it!

With the dynamic content within the background-position and object-fit - do you have ACF select options when a user uploads an image to a CPT? I’ve not tried that out yet.

Yes, exactly that. I have a field to adjust it if needed, with the default value of 50% 50%.

Likewise, I have a acf field that fills the position field… works a treat
