Feature request: an enhanced Design Cloud

In principle Design Cloud is great, however it’s currently a limited and closed library of templates. I have several ideas for Design Cloud that would make it much more useful and give us more control over it.

  • The ability to put our own sites, headers, presets, content, footers, and layouts in there and make those available to other sites linked to our Themeco account with a single click.

  • The ability to create categories and assign those to our sites, headers, presets, etc.
For example, I would create categories for homepages, contact pages, about us pages, product pages, etc.

  • Provide a UI to exclude certain items from a selection of sites.

  • Provide an option to exclude Themeco’s creations, as nice as they are
I’d prefer to copy them and whitelabel them a bit more anyway.

  • Basic white labeling. Rename Design Cloud to something else.

How would it work? I imagine we would designate one site to be the “master” site from which all other sites pull the templates, most likely that would be our own personal/company site. All other sites registered with our Themeco account could then pull from the master site. Themeco would not have to host and distribute anything, it would all happen via our own site. You would merely provide the means to do all this, easier said than done of course

We would be responsible ourselves for providing nice thumbnails to represent our templates so no complicated auto-generation of thumbnails required.

Hopefully these ideas will be seriously considered and implemented in the future. Of course I’m very interested to hear what you all think about it.

Hi @JvP,

Thanks for reaching out and thanks for your detailed explanation. I will make a feature request so it might be taken into account in the future.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.

Thanks @marc_a, could you please also move this post to the Beta forum? I actually intended to post it there.

Hi @JvP,

Thanks for sharing all of the above. We have some ideas on making the Design Cloud assets more immediately available in the builders instead of having to go through the template manager. There could be more opportunity in these cases to pipe in your own assets with custom PHP integrations. Unfortunately, at this point in time I don’t see us making a version of Design Cloud that links assets to a Themeco account. Perhaps one day it would be possible, but it would have to be part of a paid subscription service since there is more ongoing technical liabilities introduced. Definitely some great ideas here and things to consider.

Ok, this sort of thing would be great for SaaS businesses (which I’m planning on launching) where we could design assets and make those available to all our paying customers easily. I’d be willing to pay extra for this functionality.

Makes sense! Thanks for the feedback.
