Fatal error message after updating the Pro theme

How do I fix this crash without having updated my staging site? I know my hosting backs up the site regularly, but I’ve not gotten any response from them all day. Wondering if there is anything I can do if I have access to FTP files. Site is running on the latest Wordpress.

Hello @stevedusek,

Thanks for writing in! If you can log in to your FTP, you can browse to the themes folder, ..../wp-content/themes/ and delete the pro theme folder. This will give you back the WP Dashboard assuming that the error is coming from the theme. If the error stills appear, it could be that a certain 3rd party plugin is causing the issue. We highly recommend that you do the updates in the staging site first. This is to avoid disrupting the live site when a conflict or error appears during the update. Anyways, if you can give FTP access and your WP credentials that would help so we can log in figure out the cause of the error.

You can create a secure note in your next reply with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WP login URL
– WP username
– WP password
– WP Administrator Role
– Confirmation that we can access and make changes to your site

Best Regards.

I was unable to respond last night. Been waiting on reply from hosting. They should have a backup they can restore, but if not, is there a way to revert back to the previous version we were using? If I don’t get a reply from hosting this morning, I may have you look at site.

Thank you for the update.

You can download the previous version of the theme from your Themeco account dashboard as shown in the screenshot below.

previous-theme-version

While this might work, we don’t recommend using an older version of the theme. It’s better to identify and resolve the underlying issue that caused the crash

Let us know once the backup is restored, then we’ll check the site again.

Best regards,
