Error message: A conflict on the front end of your

Hi! Suddenly (after updating X and Cornerstone to the latest versions) I started getting this error message, when trying to edit pages with Cornerstone.

Could you take a look at the issue?

Cheers

Hi. I had had this problem since yesterday when I updated my X Pro too - tried a few solutions I found on forums, to no avail. One that has just worked for me was to deactivate my W3 Total Cache plugin. If you have it, purge all cache and deactivate it and try to edit a page. Hope it helps!

Thanks Rogue. I manually deleted the W3 Total Cache folder and that got rid of the Cornerstone php errors. Cleared all my caches but still can’t get to my wordpress admin.

Hello,

@Feldspar, please, could you create other thread with your details? This way we can help you better.

Now, @FriggJarkko, you can try to check if there is some plugin conflict and to verify it, just disable all of them and check the page again.

Hi! I disabled all the plugins except Cornerstone but I still get the same error.

Hi there,

I managed to access one of your pages in Cornerstone:

I used the Google Chrome browser, but it took very long to load. This shows that some necessary information is missing on your hosting service provider to make sure the Cornerstone work correctly in new the version.

Please kindly increase the PHP memory limit on the server. You may need to contact your hosting service provider to do so:

Thank you.

Thanks for the advice! I will contact my hosting service and ask about the PHP memory limit.

Will report back

You’re welcome!

Hi! Increasing Wordpress nor PHP memory didn’t help with this issue (memory limit is now at 256M). Still getting the same error and am not able to edit pages with Cornerstone!

Hi there,

It’s loading fast on my end too, could you try another browser in different internet connection. I recommend use the private browsing feature for testing (like incognito in chrome).

Thanks!

Hi! Speed has not been any problem in my end! I’ve now tried with different browsers on different connections and the result is the same: I can not edit pages with cornerstone ATM. Instead I still get the error message mentioned above.

Hi there,

Could you try turning off SSL/HTTPS this time? Though, I can’t really find what’s causing this, it’s back to normal now when I checked and it’s loading okay again. Perhaps you can get something from your host like logs or analysis about the performance.

Thanks!

Alright, now I understand what you meant! I have been trying to use Cornerstone tens of times the last days, but the only page it works on my end is the “bio” page that your colleague managed to also open with Cornerstone. All other pages give the same error nag.

Hi there,

I checked your website once again and found out the problem is caused by the Polylang and Loco Translate plugins. As soon as I turn them off I can check the page with Cornerstone. Here is me accessing the Front Page:

At the moment kindly keep those plugins deactivated while you work on the pages using Cornerstone. Then you can enable them again.

Thank you.

Awesome, thanks for troubleshooting! It was strange though, as when I turned off all the plugins (except Cornerstone) I kept having the same error nag. But, glad to have a solution for now.

Many thanks!

You’re welcome!

Hi! For some reason disabling Polylang and Loco Translate plugins stopped helping with the issue, so I am back to square one: the nag screen pops up when I try to use Cornerstone. I tried disabling all plugins except Cornerstone without help.

Anything else that could work?

Hi there,

I can confirm this on first 2 loads, on 3rd the builder loads okay without that message. It’s a bit random which could be like affected by the performance of your host environment. have you found something from your hosting provider?

The only thing I get when it fails to load is the preview won’t initialize then it works, then not again, and works again. And another thing that I got is this

jquery.js?ver=1.12.4:4 POST https://*******/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

Which could be the main reason why it’s random, the connection isn’t stable between the browser and your host. Are you on shared hosting? Does is receive too much traffic?

Thanks.

Hi! I have informed ISP also about this issue, but haven’t gotten answers yet. Meanwhile, after updating to the newest Cornerstone I now get a totally new nag screen (when trying to edit with Cornerstone), saying

“This Content does not have a translation. Start with a blank slate or choose an existing translation to begin with.”

This problem disappears when I disable Loco Translate and Polylang. The original problem still stays though - It’s not random for me as I haven’t been able to open Cornerstone for many days now (tried hundred times).

Hi there,

May I know which page is triggering this? Maybe it needs translation as suggested by the message?

Thanks!
