Editing a Header from one Page, Loads Another Page

Hi!

I have a Header assigned to two pages. When I am on one of the pages, I click “Edit Header”, and it takes me to the other page instead of the page that is currently being viewed.

I believe that for now at least the viewed page should load, and in the future I think it would be very important to be able to load any page into the view on the Header builder.

Also, perhaps less important, but when “Edit Header” is clicked, it takes us into the Header without an indication which header it is, when there are more of them. I actually had to preview several of them before finding out which one it is, so I can assign it to more pages.

Thanks!

Hi Misho,

Good observation. We’ll be exploring ways to make this more consistent as we build out the Layout Builder. We’ll need some toolbar action to let the user decide what front end context they want to preview with.

Presently, the “Edit Header” navigation is treated if you clicked Edit from the header builder index screen. It will use the home page if nothing is assigned or if you’ve assigned it globally. Otherwise it will use the first assigned context.

This isn’t something we’re in a good position to change right now. It’s likely that parts of the assignment logic till be rewritten and optimized when we start on the Layout builder since it will require assignments as well.
