Look at the strange appearance of the Edit with Cornerstone button here. It looks much better and in line with core WordPress styling if you apply the .button-primary class to it.

@JvP, do you have a plugin disabling Gutenberg in the backend? The styling for the Gutenberg interface is showing appropriately here:
I do have the Disable Gutenberg plugin active. Ok so what about folks like me who don’t like to use Gutenberg? 
@JvP, you’re not alone…I also don’t like to use Gutenberg. 
I had forgotten about that plugin, so I will try installing that and see what I can adjust to get that sorted!
