Dynamic Content in "all terms" > parent term may not be working properly

I have a number of categories with subcategories. I am trying to create an archive layout that shows children categories (so viewing the category 1 archives will show category 1.1, category 1.2, and so on).

I’m able to create a looper using the “all terms” provider, and when I either manually set the parent term or enter breakout mode and enter the parent term’s ID, the looper displays correctly. However, if I use the dynamic content field and enter {{dc:archive:id}}, my looper is empty. I’ve confirmed that {{dc:archive:id}} is returning the expected ID number.

I’ve confirmed that other settings (empty terms/offset/taxonomy type/conditions/etc) are all correct.

Am I missing something, or do I need a different dynamic field?

Hello Andy,

Thanks for writing to us.

To help you with your concerns, we need to check your settings. I would request please share the admin login details meanwhile I would suggest you troubleshoot a few of the common issues before we investigate your settings. Please share your details in a secure note. Please provide the following details

  • WordPress Login URL
  • Admin-level username and password
  • Exact page URL

You can find the Secure Note button at the bottom of your posts

Thanks

Hello Prakash!

Thank you for looking into this. I’ve added a secure note to the post with the username/password/login URL. I’ve also added a deep link to the layout at issue, but it’s named “top level archive layout”. The looper provider is on section 2, and it’s currently using a manually-set parent term instead of the dynamic field.

That’s a staging site, so feel free to change whatever you need (though I ask that you document any major changes both so I know what is impacted and how to replicate the changes in the future!)

Hello Andy,

Thanks for reporting this. I’ve tested the setup, and {{dc:archive:id}} is returning the correct value, but the All Terms > Parent Term field does not appear to evaluate that dynamic value correctly in this context. Manual IDs and breakout mode work as expected, which suggests this is likely a limitation in the field rather than an issue with your configuration. I will share this information with our development team regarding this limitation and take a closer look at it.

Thanks for understanding

Thanks for the update!
I’ll remove the temporary user from my site and keep an eye on patch notes of future releases.

You are most welcome, Andy.
