Does Cornerstone Standalone builder have any limitations compared to the integrated builder of PRO?

Hi,

Like the title says.

Thanks!

Hi Diego,

Thanks for reaching out.
The Cornerstone is mostly used in the X as the Page Builder whereas the Cornerstone is integrated as Content Builder in the Pro. So if you check the comparison between the X and Pro, you can have an idea about the difference between the Cornerstone and the Pro.

There are a few differences between the X and Pro the major differences are you can create the Custom Header, Custom Footer, Custom Layout for Single and Archive pages including the Product Single and Product Archive pages.
Also, the CSS Grid Element which is the one used to build this Design Cloud asset Modern Mosaic is a complex grid layout that is not possible on X.

The Content Builder is exactly the same as how the Cornerstone page builder work, so you don’t need to re-learn how to create pages in Pro unless you’re using an old version of X, and then try to use a new version of Pro. then obviously that would have some difference in the user interface. But if it is in the same version timeline, then there will be no differences.
The Theme Options which are very useful on X, are still present on Pro so you can still have those options that you’re used to.

Simply put, what you can do with X, you can also do with Pro in the same manner, but with PRO you will have those additional features I mentioned above, and sooner you’ll learn how to use those features and can now see the real difference of X and Pro.
But for now, you can upgrade to Pro and use it how you use X, and learn the new features along the way.

To know more you can go through this article: https://theme.co/docs/the-difference-between-x-pro

Hope that helps.
Thanks

Hi Tristup,

I believe there has been a misunderstanding. I used X years ago and I’ve been using PRO intensively for my clients for many years, so I know both of them well. I was asking exclusively about the standalone version of the builder, that I’ve never tried. I love PRO but I have always missed having a blank/barebones stack, although it is a request I made in 2018 in this forum. I do not need a theme as I always build completely customized sites. Having a barebones stack would give me the benefit of not having to override CSS styles and I would be getting lighter and more performant sites. The barebones stack would ideally only offer CSS normalization (like HTML5 Boilerplate) and other basic stuff.

Thanks!

Hi Diego,

I understood that you may want to use the standalone Cornerstone with some other themes, not the X or Pro. The standalone Cornerstone has all the elements that are available in X, and the Theme Options a bit different options and attributes.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

Hi Tristup,

Then, does it mean that the following would not be available: Custom Header, Custom Footer, Custom Layout for Single and Archive pages including the Product Single and Product Archive pages?

On the other hand, does the development team have any plans to add a barebones stack to PRO?

Thanks!

Hi Diago,

The Custom Header, Custom Footer, Custom Layout for Single and Archive pages, Product Single and Product Archive pages are available only with the Pro not with the standalone Cornerstone.

And regretfully, we don’t have any plan for the barebones stack right this moment.

Thanks

Hi Tristup,

Thank you for clarifying.

As a final comment, It is a pity that a product like PRO, aimed to profesional users, does not offer a blank/minimal/barebones stack. Because of that, every time a web designer/developer builds a new custom site, she/he has to drag the given stack’s code –that is not of any use– plus having to override some portions of it –do extra work– . I have the impression that creating a barebones stack would be quite an easy task for the development team and a great benefit to many users.

Cheers!

Hey Diego,

I’ll add this as a feature request again so that it will be taken into action in the future.

Cheers!
