Customizer is not loading when activate child theme

When I activate x child theme the following error in the console and customizer doesn’t load.

Will you please tell me what’s the actual issue is?

Thanks for writing in. Regretfully, I’m am not sure what could cause that since I have not experienced this issue yet. We also would like to know some more details.

Did you just download the child theme from https://theme.co/apex/child-themes and installed it directly or do you have custom code in your child theme?

If you have customizations, please try removing them to see if that fixes the issue.

Please also try updating WordPress. If you’re already using the latest version, try reinstalling WordPress by going to Dashboard > Updates.and click the Re-install Now button. That sometimes resolves jQuery related errors in WordPress.

You could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
