Custom CSS pane dissapearing when working on multiple screens

Hello, I was just editing some custom CSS. Because the pane with the custom CSS was covering most of my working area I decided to drag the pane to a different place on the working area. I discovered that I could drag the pane to my other screen (not showing up though on the other screen) when I released the pane I lost it, it wasn’t visible anymore on my main screen and also not visible on my second screen.

Which brings me immediately to the following, it is already super nice that you can drag the bars to other parts of the screen but it would be even greater when you can drag these panes to a second screen. Don’t know if this is already planned for future releases but I think this would be a great addition.

Anyway back to the problem, only when I reloaded the page the custom CSS pane showed up again on the far left of the screen.

Hope it is clear what I’m explaining, when not i can make screen recording of it.

Cheers!

Hi @SchoonhovenOntwerpStudio,

Thanks for sharing this. This could also happen if you resize your browser dimensions. Instead of refreshing, I think you can just click the code editor toggle on/off again and it will run a check to safely position it inside the viewport.

It would be fantastic if we could support multiple monitors. I’ve done some experimentation here, and it is technically possible for us to display the preview iframe as a standalone window while keeping the same data synchronization. A workflow challenge is that you would be double clicking a whole lot. Browsers only keep one window focused at a time, so if you click in the main editor, your next click in the preview frame will simply be to focus that window, then you can interact with elements again. There are other issues like not being able to drag elements between panes. So it’s something we would like to explore further but it’s just not polished enough to be an official feature.

@alexander, yes I thought already that these are some of the challenges with that. I tried yesterday to just expand the browser to my secondary screen so that I could have all control tabs showing on my other monitor but that also is far from ideal to work with.

Anyway, back to the issue, I tried to toggle off and on the code editor but with me that didn’t work. I was working in Firefox.

Thanks for your reply!

Ok, thanks for the heads up. I’ll see if we can make it smart enough to return to the current viewport on reactivation (for some reason I thought that was the behavior) but you can always refresh if you get in the situation againl

Exactly, not a very big deal to do. And I must say, I’ve been working with the new builder now for some weeks and I’m loving it more and more, so much functionality and options in it, really great job you guys did! Can’t wait to learn more.

So just a big thank you from my end!

Sounds good! And you’re most welcome.
